John Robert Mayes, age 73, of Xenia, passed away December 19, 2023. John was born in Dayton, Ohio on October 31, 1950 to the late Robert and Frances Mayes.

John is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Kyle Mayes.

He is survived by wife of 52 years, Mary Mayes; son, Rob (Nicole) Mayes; daughter, Jessica (Robert) Elliott; 5 grandchildren, Alyson, Michael, Paul, Daniel and McKenzie; sisters, Teresa (Chas) Trimbach and Shelley (Larry) Gregory; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

John was a loving husband, father, gramps, brother, son and friend. He was a member of the Ohio National Guard.

John retired from Lockwood Jones and Beals (LJB) after about 28 years. He was a member of the Dayton Legends Softball Team, Dr. Vinyl Softball Team and P&G Softball Team. John made many good friends over the decades on the diamonds. He enjoyed lifting weights and spending time with his grandchildren.
